Finding a new date night restaurant

We have a busy life as a married couple, but we still like to have a regular date night once a week. Our favourite restaurant is shutting down, so we are on the hunt for a new date night restaurant. We like to try new and different foods but are pretty flexible as to what type of foods the restaurant serves. We also love great service and it's nice to find a restaurant that treats us as special customers whenever we come in. This blog is all about our search for the perfect date night restaurant and has reviews of some of our favourite new finds.

Two Tips To Follow When Having a Date at a Restaurant

Here are two tips to follow when having a date at the restaurant

Try to choose a corner table that's far from the entrance and the kitchen

If you have the option of choosing your table, you should pick one that's relatively far away from both the entrance and the kitchen or one that is in a corner. The reason for this is that on a date, you'll probably want to spend your time getting to know the other person whilst enjoying your food.

If you sit close to the restaurant's kitchen or its entrance, you might find that the noise of the kitchen staff's voices and the swinging of the kitchen doors or the hustle and bustle of groups entering the restaurant (and letting the cold air in) to be distracting. You might find yourself having to ask your date to repeat themselves (or vice versa) and not really paying attention to your delicious meal.

If you opt for a cosy corner table or booth, you won't have as many wait staff hurrying by it, and it will be too close to the noisy kitchen or entrance. You should find it easier to chat and savour your food, even if the restaurant is quite busy. You'll also be less likely to be bothered by any chilly draughts or overpowering smells of cooking food.

Don't make any daring food choices on your date

It's best to order foods that you're already fairly familiar with or that you know you won't have a reaction to when on a date with someone new. The reason for this is that if you order the restaurant's spiciest curry in the hopes that your date will be impressed, but you can't really handle spicy foods, you might end up too distracted by your burning mouth and your need to glug several glasses of water to pay attention to the conversation for most of the meal.

Likewise, if your date suggests ordering a shared platter featuring dairy and you are lactose intolerant but you don't want to mention this and decide to eat some of the platter's cream, butter or cheese-laden contents, you might end up having to draw the evening to a close earlier than planned, due to feeling nauseous and unwell. Choosing foods that you genuinely like, can safely consume and are a pleasure to eat will put you in a better mood, which will make you better company for your date.
