About Me

Finding a new date night restaurant

We have a busy life as a married couple, but we still like to have a regular date night once a week. Our favourite restaurant is shutting down, so we are on the hunt for a new date night restaurant. We like to try new and different foods but are pretty flexible as to what type of foods the restaurant serves. We also love great service and it's nice to find a restaurant that treats us as special customers whenever we come in. This blog is all about our search for the perfect date night restaurant and has reviews of some of our favourite new finds.

How To Create A Restaurant Menu

The restaurant menu is one of the easiest ways to grow your client base and increase customer loyalty. Creating a menu is a technical process that often gives restaurant owners a headache. This excerpt discusses a few tips on how to create an effective restaurant menu.

What Kind of Restaurant Do You Intend To Open?

This is the unique selling point (USP) of the business. Prior to this, you should have conducted ample market research to identify an existing market gap. For instance, you could opt to open a fast foods restaurant if the area has none. Your next step is to examine the availability of the required ingredients, their quality and pricing. It will help you come up with a reasonable pricing strategy.

Group The Foods

It is a vital aspect of the menu creation process. It helps customers identify their favourite foods. For example, when opening a fast-food restaurant, you could group the foods into drinks (subgroups: alcoholic and non-alcoholic), mains (subgroups: pizzas, burgers, chicken) and the desserts. You could also have an allocation for breakfast foods if your establishment will serve breakfast. People opening sports bars may have a difficult time since most or all of the items are alcoholic. However, you could group your items into beers (craft and packaged), wines, spirits and cocktails.

Emphasising The Main Meals

The main meal is the primary attraction of your restaurant. It should meet the following criteria:

  • It should be something new. For instance, you could roast chicken with a secret recipe that sets it aside from what competitors have to offer.
  • It must be affordable. The characteristics of your target market will help you set a reasonable price.
  • The meal should leave a good profit margin. The ingredients should be available all year round.
  • Seasonal ingredients will not be available throughout the year. As such, you will lack consistency.

The main meal should appear first its specific category. There are several ways to woo customers to purchase the meal. For instance, you could include it in your logo (town x best-grilled chicken) or use the picture as the main photo in your menu.

Prix Fixe Menus

A prix fixe menu is a menu for special occasions. For instance, if you anticipate a lot of customers during specific periods (holiday seasons, for example), you could create a special menu that limits the number of foods on the menu. This menu should include the main meal and any other easy to prepare foods.

When creating a restaurant menu, decide what kind of foods to cook, group the foods, emphasise the main meal and create a prix fixe menu.
